Hatch Regular Funds

The Hatch Act of 1887 established the State Agricultural Experiment Stations. Hatch funds are appropriated by Congress each year, and distributed to the states on a formula basis, which includes a base allocation for each state plus an amount that is allocated based on the percentage of farm and rural population in the state compared with the national farm and rural population.

The use of Hatch funds should reflect the national goals established in the Research Education and Economics (REE) Mission Area and CSREES Agency Strategic Plans.

Empower people and communities, through research-based information and education, to address the economic and social challenges facing our youth, families, and communities.
